July 2017 TBR & Summer Goals Update

Sadly this month I will not be going on any big vacations. The only beach trip I have planned is in September. So I have a little bit until I get to spend a whole week reading! I can’t wait for that trip!

As I said in my June Wrap Up post, I intened to finish Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake. Then after that, I will work on the ones below!

The Books I Plan to Read in July…

Checkmate: This is Reckless (Drew & Courtney #1) (Checkmate Duet #3) by Kennedy Fox

The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles #1) by Mary E. Pearson

Pretties (Uglies #2) by Scott Westerfeld

Specials (Uglies #3) by Scott Westerfeld

The Magnolia Story by Chip an Joanna Gaines

Summer Goals Update

  1. Read 12 books from my TBR shelf. – I have read 2 so far and I am about to knock another one down. That will leave me with 9 more to read. I have 4 on my July TBR. I think this might still be attainable!
  2. Read Gone with the Wind – I am slowly chipping away at this one! I am definitely going to be able to check this goal off my list!
  3. Finish the Harry Potter Series – I have decided that I don’t want to read HP in the summer! This is such a curl up on a cold night with a hot cup of something kind of series. I will wait until November or December to finish this one!
  4. Finish the Uglies series – I have the last 2 that I own on my July TBR! I can probably do this one!
  5. Read a little bit everyday –  Unless you count audiobooks, I sure have I been failing at this one! I really need to work on reading a little bit every day.

I hope you all have a successful July of reading! Happy Summer!

Thanks for reading!

xoxo

June 2017 TBR

As I previously stated in my May wrap-up post…I am hoping having a list of books to read this month will help me read more. My goal is to read at least one ebook and one book that was on my tbr from before 2016. I am hoping this will help me tackle all of the books I have bought but have not read…so, in turn, I can feel less guilty about buying more books! Without further ado…here is my June TBR!

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

I Heart Paris (I Heart #3) by Lindsey Kelk

Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns #1) by Kendare Blake

Checkmate: This is Reckless (Drew and Courtney #1) by Kennedy Fox (ebook)

Uglies (Uglies #1) by Scott Westerfeld (pre-2016)

Wish me good luck!!

xoxo

Down the TBR Hole #2

It is week number two for the Down the TBR Hole and I am very excited to go through my TBR again. I really am hoping to get this to a realistic, manageable number…I know, funny…but a girl can dream right?!

This was started by Lia from Lost In A Story and instructions are:

Anyway, it works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

The fact that I (you?) will be repeating this process every week means that I have to keep track of where I ended and where I’m going to continue. E.g. in week one I do book 1 – 5, in week two book 6 – 10, and so on, until I’ve filtered out my entire TBR.

My TBR Selections for this week are…

10446677_10102445877898007_3461327240984126908_n

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
I have owned this book for as long as I can remember. I bought it at a book fair at school and then my brother gave me the next two in the series for Christmas that year. I feel like I have to read this. Maybe I will make it my read for the “a read that has been on your TBR for way to long” on the 2017 Reading Challenge. Verdict: it stays.

24768

Pretties by Scott Westerfeld
Like I said before, this and Pretties were gifts to me from my brother and I’ve had these books on my shelf for a very long time. I have full intentions of reading them. It stays.

12063240

Specials by Scott Westerfeld
See above…it stays

18679391

Liar Temptress Spy by Karen Abbot
While this sounds interesting, I don’t see myself reading it anytime soon. It goes.

18668008

Graduates in Wonderland by Jessica Pan and Rachel Kapelke-Dale
This sounds so interesting. A story of two girls in their early twenties told through emails. I feel like I can learn to see things in a different light. I think this one should stay!

And that’s all for this round. This week, one is getting the boot!

Until next time!

Down the TBR Hole #1

So it seems like EVERYONE is doing the Down the TBR Hole posts! And I am not going to lie…I want in! While my TBR isn’t outrageous, I think it is better to get keep in under control then get a completely unmanageable number of books I have to sort through and will probably never get to all of them.

This was started by Lia from Lost In A Story and instructions are:

Anyway, it works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books

So without further ado…

My TBR Selections for this week:

6909919

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

I have owned this copy of this book for a long time. I “read” it in high school (not really, but I tried) and I don’t remember much. Since I own it, it will stay on my TBR.

2852969

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

This book has been on my TBR for as long as I can remember. I have tried reading it multiple times in multiple formats and I have gotten intimidated and stopped each time. One day I will master this beast of a novel! It stays.

9266805

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

Another Austen that I have owned for a long time. I just think these editions are so beautiful and I really want to read more classics, so it stays too.

4671
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Yet another one I “read” in high school. I have seen the move and really enjoyed it. I own this one as well and I plan on reading it, so it shall stay.

9972882

Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay

I am just not sure I am feeling this anymore. It sounds interesting but I feel like there are other books I would pick instead of this one. It goes.

Well that sums up the first week! So far 1 book is getting kicked off the TBR. At least it is a start. I’m excited to get to next week’s books!

Thanks for reading!

xoxo
